(Irvine, California) June 8, 2004 – CGTech, developer of VERICUT® CNC simulation and optimization software for manufacturing, announced today that the company has joined the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA), a professional association founded in 1943 as the national representative of the custom precision manufacturing industry in the United States.
The mission of the NTMA is to help members of the U.S. precision custom manufacturing industry achieve business success in a global economy through advocacy, advice, networking, information, programs, and services.
Matthew Coffey, president of the NTMA, says “American manufacturers are facing tough competition from international sources. In order to survive, American manufacturers need to compete at a global level. Certainly adopting cutting edge manufacturing technologies, such VERICUT, will provide higher productivity. NTMA’s legislative efforts are raising government’s awareness to put legislative relief in place to facilitate this overhaul of American manufacturers’ technology and their facilities.”
The NTMA has nearly 1,800 member companies made up of primarily privately owned and operated small-to-medium businesses. This group designs and manufactures special tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gages, special machines, and precision machined parts generating sales in excess of $40 billion a year. Some firms specialize in experimental research and development work.
“CGTech is committed to the success of our customers, and many of them are NTMA members,” says CGTech president, Jon Prun. “We support the NTMA and its membership. Small-to-medium size manufacturing is the heart of our economic strength. A strong manufacturing base is crucial to America’s economy, and tooling and machining is a critical part of the overall manufacturing industry.”
